England were able to recall Jonathan Trott back into the England Lions squad to tour South Africa this winter. From a personal point of view as an England fan, it's fantastic news and I'm welcoming him back.
Trott has been out since leaving the ill fated Ashes tour after the first test, citing a stress related disorder.
Evidently he's been able to use the time between then and now to recover and now feels he can contribute to the side again.
I feel he will almost certainly walk back into the starting lineup once he returns to the full test side, which can only be a matter of time assuming there is no relapse. That would be great news for Egland, although his place at number three may not be guaranteed after the superb summer performances of Gary Ballance means the Yorskhireman seems to have made that spot his own.
Ballance represents the future and should be allowed to continue in a settled position, but Trott can be equally effective a little further down the order as he has already proved in the past.
Most importantly of all it's great to hear that Trott's health is good and that he feels ready to continue. If we get the same player back that we had a couple of years ago, it will certainly strengthen England's squad and batting lineup.
So welcome back Trotty!
